This is an urgent reminder that could protect your building and community from serious fire hazards. Over the past few years there has been an increased volume of fires due to batteries.

Our urgent message:

Batteries don't belong in normal bins. They pose a significant fire risk when disposed of incorrectly and can cause devastating damage to people, waste facilities, buildings and community. Battery related fires can be prevented if simple measures are followed.

Why it matters to you:

  • Fires can start in your bins, waste room area, and/or building

  • Fires can start in your waste trucks and processing facilities

  • Fires can endanger workers which can also spread nearby.
